Every trainer's name tag is visible in the game, so there is no need for "unconfirmed" trainers: Shinora teaches Insect, Saneri teaches Wind, Tengai teaches Sound and Gyorei teaches Stone. The same characters return as world-event bosses (the Hashira), which is where the matching haori, katana and ultimate scroll drop. Full drop tables are on the bosses page.
How unlocking a Breathing Style works
- Reach level 25. The leveling guide covers the quest route to get there.
- Collect the materials. Most trainers ask for Demon Horns and Beast Cores. Demon Horns drop from demons at night (the cave by the bears gives 1 per kill, the High Demons nearby can give 2). Beast Cores drop from beast-form demons at night around Mistfall Harbor. Routes are in the horns and cores guide.
- Talk to the trainer and pay. Requirements differ per style; the ones we could confirm are on each style's page.
- Finish the training quest. It is six steps (meditation, cup training, push ups, aim training, boulder work) and ends with a fight against that style's trainee. The Wind and Insect quests both paid 900 EXP and 405 Wen on completion.
- Raise mastery and unlock moves. After unlocking, use the style's moves to raise its mastery, then open the menu (M) > Skill Tree and spend skill points on the right-hand Slayer side to unlock the next moves. The ultimate move scroll only drops once the earlier moves are unlocked.

Pick with your clan in mind: several clans only pay off with one style (Agatsuma with Thunder, Kocho with Insect, Iguro with Serpent, Rengoku with Flame). The clans page lists what each one does.

What level do you need for a Breathing Style in Slayers 2?
Level 25. Two guide makers (Kam's TV and syoct) both say 25 on launch day. After that each trainer asks for materials and Wen before the training quest starts.
How do you get Demon Horns and Beast Cores?
Both drop at night. Demon Horns come from the demons in the cave by the bears (1 per kill) and from the stronger High Demons nearby (up to 2). Beast Cores come from the beast-form demons around Mistfall Harbor. See the demon horns guide for routes.
Which Breathing Style is the best?
Destructoid's September 23 list puts Water and Thunder in S tier, Insect, Sound and Serpent (Snake) in A, Flame and Stone in B and Wind in C. Flame moves up with the Rengoku clan. See the tier list page for the other lists.
How do you reset or change your Breathing Style?
In their August 2026 Q&A the developers said a breathing reset would work like Project Slayers: collect ores and buy the reset. SKILLTREERESET only refunds skill points; it does not change your style.
Is there Mist, Love, Moon or Sun Breathing?
Not at launch. The 8 styles above are all the trainers in the game, matching the developers' plan of 8 breathings for release.
Can demons use Breathing Styles?
No. Breathing Styles are the slayer path; demons use Evil Arts instead. The Hashira bosses mark their move scrolls "Must be Slayer" when a demon kills them.
How do you unlock the other breathing moves?
Use the moves you have to raise that style's mastery, then spend skill points on the Slayer side of the Skill Tree (menu key M). The ultimate move is a separate scroll that drops from the style's Hashira boss at 5%, and it only drops once your earlier moves are unlocked.
